Data loss can be the result of various problems like viruses, corrupted files, hardware failure and more. Novice users tend to believe that their files are lost forever, but this is not the case. A recovery tool will find lost data and it will copy it to a different location on the hard drive, where it can be accessed normally. To install the software on your Windows powered computer, you have to download a 1.5 Mb archive and unpack it. The setup file will launch a standard wizard, which will install the program in a few seconds. Professional Recover-Center will work smoothly with FAT (12/16/32), NTFS or other file systems.

Familiarity is the software's first feature. Its interface is similar to a standard explorer window. The hard drive's partitions, as well as the drives for removable devices are displayed in a tree menu, on the left side of the window. The contents of a selected folder or partition are listed on the larger area, next to the tree structure.

A partition needs to be analyzed before you can access it. Simply select it in the tree menu and click the Analyze button on the toolbar. The program will analyze the file system first, so you can access your folders right away. Files and folders are color coded, making it easier to spot live or deleted items, folders which contain deleted data, virtual disks and others.

While browsing through your files, the software will analyze drive sectors. It is a slow, but thorough process and if it finds lost data, the file system on the interface will be updated. You will not have to wait for the scan to finish. During the scan, lost data will be added into a separate folder, in the tree menu and organized according to their types (archives, images, audio files, etc). If you find deleted files, you can recover them by clicking the Recover button on the toolbar. A small window will appear on the screen, where you will have to specify an output path and click the OK button.
